Lincoln Educational Services Corporation Acquires LPN Program from Harrison Career Institute
Expands Highly Successful Licensed Practical Nursing Program to State of New Jersey
WEST ORANGE, N.J., March 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lincoln Educational Services Corporation (Nasdaq: LINC) ("Lincoln") today announced that it has completed a transaction with Harrison Career Institute, Inc. (HCI) to acquire its Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program. The acquisition allows Lincoln to expand its LPN course offerings -- a fast growing, high-demand health services education segment -- to its New Jersey campuses.
State licensed in New Jersey, HCI's LPN program was located at its Deptford, New Jersey campus. The current student body will transfer to Lincoln's newly established branch of its New Britain, Connecticut operation. The branch is in the process of obtaining the appropriate State of New Jersey, ACCSCT and USDOE approvals. The LPN program is in the final review process of the New Jersey Board of Nursing for full accreditation status. Lincoln expects this accreditation to be granted as early as the second quarter of 2007, upon which the company will be able to offer the LPN program at additional Lincoln campuses in New Jersey.
"Although this transaction is very small in size, it is significant in that it accelerates our introduction of the high-in-demand LPN program in the state of New Jersey," said David Carney, Chairman and CEO, Lincoln Educational Services. "Our market research on emerging sectors of the economy indicates clear opportunities for licensed practical nurses, and we look forward to building upon HCI's fine program to provide these skills to students looking to build careers in this field. Through our disciplined approach, we have built a successful track record in integrating acquisitions and maximizing the value of our brand equity, having recently completed the re-branding of 29 campuses under the Lincoln banner."
