Columbia Lincoln Tech Hosts BMW Program Grand Opening
Columbia, MD – Lincoln Technical Institute's Columbia, Maryland Campus hosted an event celebrating the Grand Opening of its BMW Service Technician Education Program (STEP) on October 29, 2004. The school was selected by BMW of North America, LLC, to be one of only nine facilities across the United States authorized to provide STEP training. The Grand Opening signifies the beginning of a new relationship between the school and the high-end automotive manufacturer.
“This grand occasion represents a major milestone in Lincoln Tech's over 50 year history,” said Karin Cogswell, Executive Director of Columbia Lincoln Tech. “Lincoln's partnership with BMW offers qualified graduates from our schools the opportunity to learn on some of today's most advanced automotive technology. It also expands our program offerings and enhances the reputation of Lincoln Tech.”
The event began with a brief ceremony at 2:00 p.m. followed by tours of the STEP program's 10,000 square feet of dedicated classroom and shop space, located within Lincoln Tech's 95,000 square foot campus building. Campus staff, faculty and students were on hand to answer questions and provide demonstrations of the latest technology with the program's equipment.
“We are proud to be opening this new facility with Lincoln Technical Institute,” said Charles Klasman, Technical Manager BMW of North America LLC. “BMW selected the Columbia Campus to provide our STEP program training back in March of 2003. We feel that the school has constructed a first-rate facility capable of providing the level of training required for our comprehensive program.”
